WHY WE USE HMR MDF

Not all MDF is the same.
Our skirting boards are manufactured from premium HMR MDF, offering superior moisture resistance, greater dimensional stability, and a significantly longer lifespan than standard MDF.
What is MDF?

Medium-Density Fibreboard (MDF) is an engineered wood product made from fine wood fibres bonded together with resin and wax under high pressure.

There are several types of MDF, distinguished by the color of their core:

  • Standard MDF – Brown
  • Eco MDF – Yellow
  • Fire-Rated MDF – Red
  • Moisture-Resistant MDF – Green
What is HMR (High Moisture Resistant) MDF?

Our skirting boards are manufactured from HMR (High Moisture Resistant) MDF, identified by its green core. All our products are manufactured in accordance with the EN 622 European standard and sourced exclusively from FSC-certified suppliers.

The HMR MDF boards we use have been tested according to the V313 Wet Cyclic Test, a rigorous testing method developed to assess the moisture resistance of MDF.

To meet this standard, the material must withstand:

  • 3 days submerged in water at 20°C
  • 1 day at -12°C
  • 3 days at 70°C

We guarantee the dimensional stability of our boards in environments with up to 75% relative humidity.

Our skirting boards are finished with a high-quality primer and multiple coats of RAL paint. Unlike foil-wrapped MDF, this finish significantly improves moisture resistance, as decorative foil alone does not protect MDF from water or prolonged exposure to moisture.

Our HMR MDF skirting boards are also highly impact-resistant thanks to their high-density core and exceptional surface hardness.

The result is a premium-quality skirting board offering maximum durability, outstanding stability, and long-lasting performance.
